Basic Rules to Texas Hold’em Poker
The basic rules to Texas Hold’em poker are easy to learn. If you have never played the game of poker before you should start with Texas Hold’em, which is the most popular poker game.
The blinds are money that is put into the pot before any cards are dealt. The two players seating to the left of the dealer place their blinds.
The player directly left of the dealer places a small blind (half the amount of the big blind). The player sitting left of the small blind places what is called the big blind.
Dealing the Cards
Each player at the table is dealt two cards face down often known as the hole cards. Once the cards are dealt there is a betting round that starts with the player left of the big blind.
They can choose to raise, bet, check, or fold. The betting then goes around to each player in a clockwise motion.
After the first round of betting is done, three community cards are dealt face up. Any player can use these three cards to help make their hand with the two hole cards they have.
After the flop a new round of betting starts with the player left of the dealer.
The Turn and River
After all betting is done a fourth community card called the turn is dealt face up. This card is called the turn. A new round of betting starts from the left of the dealer.
A fifth and final card is then dealt face up known as the river. One final round of betting occurs. All players that are left in the hand turn over their cards and the player with the best five card hand wins the pot.
