Is Online Poker Legal in Alabama?
Online gambling is not currently regulated in the state of Alabama. The state has very strict gambling laws, which make it unlikely that they will legalize online poker or any other online gambling anytime soon. Alabama does have some forms of gambling, though the state is very conservative.
In 1984 Alabama started to allow greyhound racing in the state. Bingo is also a popular form of gambling with bingo video machines at both greyhound tracks and offered by Indian tribes. There are no normal casinos that offer poker or other popular table games like black jack.

A person engages in gambling if he stakes or risks something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance or a future contingent event not under his control or influence, upon an agreement or understanding that he or someone else will receive something of value in the event of a certain outcome. 
As can been seen by reading this definition even games that involve a large amount of skill like poker would be considered gambling under Alabama Law.
Alabama law does not see any difference between poker and other kinds of gambling. Games like Texas Hold’em are seen as games of chance rather than skill by courts in the state.
Any game that has some aspect of chance is considered gambling under most that read Alabama gambling laws. Much of poker is related to skill it is still consider gambling because of the elements of chance present in the game.
There are no casinos in the state of Alabama even on Indian Reservations. Though many reservations and greyhound tracks offer electronic bingo, slot machines and table games are prohibited. Because of these strict gaming laws in Alabama you will not find any place to play a legal game of poker.
