Is Online Poker Legal in Wyoming?
Wyoming is the least populated state in the United States and does not regulate gambling. The States has a very board definition of gambling, Wyoming defines it as:
Gambling means risking any property for gain contingent in whole or in part upon lot, chance, the operation of a gambling device or the happening or outcome of an event, including a sporting event, over which the person taking a risk has no control.
Poker in the State does not exist. The only casinos in Wyoming are run by Indian Tribes, though none of them offer poker rooms. According to law social home poker games are be legal as the law states
Any game, wager or transaction which is incidental to a bona fide social relationship, is participated in by natural persons only, and in which no person is participating, directly or indirectly, in professional gambling.
The state has no laws regarding online poker or gambling in the state. There is no effort by the state to look into the issue. No players have ever been prosecuted or arrest for playing online poker. Though there is not history of the State going after online poker players the strict definition of gambling in Wyoming would suggest online poker is not legal.
Because of the small population Wyoming and its history of strict gambling laws, there is little chance that online poker will be regulated in the state. In fact Wyoming is one of only a few states that does not have a state lottery.
